New TT120
TT120-group
Recent developments in the hobby have seen manufacturers, primarily Hornby, launch a new range based a scale of 2.5mm(?) to the foot. A new layout is under construction and currently a track plan and baseboards are under development.
The Layout has been designed for the main scenic section to depict a mainline at the seaside running along the top of a cliff. Various ideas for how our cliff top line should be depicted have been considered as the photo board in front of the layout shows. Having just returned from a boat trip from Brixham to Torquay the cliffs there seem ideal to meet our requirement of a railway being very close to the cliff edge, with steps down the cliff face to the beach and semi flat land behind the railway to permit a few buildings. The layout height is such that you can sit down in front watching the varied trains go past and imagine the sea is lapping around your feet.
The boards were designed to make a modular layout capable of being configured as a "U" shape, "L" shape or straight layout. It will feature a double track line with through hidden sidings at the back. The track on the end boards go through 180deg taking trains from the front scenic section to the through hidden sidings behind. The scenic section and hidden sidings are on the same pair of boards.
